Top 2 Place Oman Tour

                                                   TOP 2 PLACE VISIT OMAN

Oman is a wonderful country offering a vast selection of activities, amazing landscapes, exciting adventures and rich culture. There is something for everyone. Compared to its neighbours Oman has preserved the old charm and traditions. Omani people are very friendly and open to visitors and it is one of the safest destinations on the world to visit.

The sultanate is recently becoming more and more popular and aims to attract tourists with a higher budget, offering a modern and luxurious travel destination. Therefore it is not easy to travel the country on a budget but it is far from impossible. The best way to keep your expenses low is to do camping as hotels are very expensive.

1. Rent a car

If you are planing to visit the Sultanate of Oman it is very important to know that public transport does not really exist in the country. There is bus service between the bigger cities but not having your own transportation will limit the things you can see to a very few places and you will probably miss out on the best sights. You do need a car here! If you have the budget for it rent a 4WD. It is not a must as the main roads are in immaculate condition but driving off-road in the mountains will certainly a memory of a lifetime. You can save by renting a 4WD for a few days only for checking out Hajar Mountains and for the rest of your time take a saloon car. There is a police check-point on the way to Jebel Shams which you can not cross without a 4×4.  Also, if you want to save on accommodation the 4WD gives you the chance to sleep in the car or go off-road and find your own camping site. Arabia Cars has one of the best prices and a flexible service. The price is 30 OMR for a 4X4 and 12-15 OMR for a sedan. Make sure to book a car before arrival otherwise you can be easily left without a car! International drivers licence is not required. However you do need a credit card

2.Timing

Make sure to start early and be the first one to enter the main attractions. Especially when visiting the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat. The opening time for visitors is 8:30-11:00am every day, closed on Fridays. After 10am it gets very crowded. We have visited almost all the forts in the morning and had the whole place for us. Later there are more people but not so crowded.
